Frequently asked questions
How much do I need to invest for Turkish citizenship?
At least $400,000 in real estate held for three years with a no-sale annotation on the title, or at least $500,000 in one of the other routes: a bank deposit, government debt instruments, real estate or venture capital fund shares, the private pension system or fixed capital investment. Creating jobs for at least 50 people is a separate route.
Can I sell the property later?
Yes. The no-sale annotation runs for three years. BRIDGES notes that once it is lifted the property can be sold and the citizenship is not reviewed again.
Do I have to live in Türkiye or speak Turkish?
No. Article 12 of the Citizenship Law does not set a residence period or a language test for investors. You do need an investor residence permit before the citizenship application is filed.
Who can join my application?
Your foreign spouse and your own and your spouse's minor or dependent foreign children. Parents and adult children are not included and would need their own application and investment.
Does a Turkish passport give visa-free travel to the Schengen area?
No. Turkish citizens need a Schengen visa. Since July 2025 the EU applies a cascade that leads to longer multiple-entry visas for people who used earlier visas correctly.
